Giving to the Anglican Chaplaincy of Lorgues with Fayence

All the work at Lorgues with Fayence is dependent, under God, on one source: the generous giving of church family members.

Why give?

‘For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.’ (2 Corinthians 8:9)

"For all things come of thee and of thine own do we give you" 1 Chronicles ch 29 verse 14. John Rutter, Look at the world.

We believe and trust in a generous God who provides all that we need.  All chaplaincies in the Diocese of Europe are self financing and receive no support from the Church of England.  This places the responsibility of meeting our financial needs and obligations on the chaplaincy and that is a healthy and biblical principal though undoubtedly challenging in a small church community.  We are fortunate at present that our Pastor is also self-supporting, though if we are to grow as a church we should be planning for some contribution to a future Pastor's income.

God has shown his great generosity towards us in the life, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Having received such undeserved generosity, we are set free to give generously in response. We all have something to give – God wants us to be generous not just with our money but with our time, energy and skills as well.

We should treat this matter carefully and prayerfully, not giving out of a desire to relieve guilt; avoid other ways of serving; or to be seen as generous. ‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’ (2 Corinthians 9:7)

What does Lorgues with Fayence spend the money on?

Some of it will go on obvious things such as stationery, telephone, insurance, travel costs and other pastoral care expenses.  But we also need to promote our presence here in the Var and website costs and other forms of communication are essential if we are to grow as a church both physically and spiritually. At the moment we have no overhead costs in relation to the chapels we use, but that may not always be the case.  We also now have a responsibility, being full members of the Diocese, and there are various funds to which we are required to contribute.

The church accounts are published annually, and how our money is spent is monitored by the church’s elected representatives on the Parochial Church Council (PCC).

How can I give?

There is of course the Sunday collection if you wish to contribute that way, but the monthly Stewardship Envelopes serve the church better as we can be more assured of our income. So each month, your envelope can be placed in the collection plate at any of the services we hold.  If you are missing for several weeks, as can be the case, you can bring your envelope along the next time you are with us.

You can also give by standing order or by a one off donation or direct transfer – please contact the Treasurer for details.

Changes in giving

If you want to change the level of your giving; to stop giving; or if your name or address change; please inform the Treasurer.
